GENERAL

Do I have to create a new account?
No. Monarch-Key Web Login uses your MIDAS ID and password to authenticate so as long as you have created your MIDAS account, you can use Monarch-Key Web Login services.

What does this new Monarch-Key Web Login mean?
We are providing a single authentication point to the most widely used services across campus. The Monarch-Key Web Login service uses the same MIDAS ID and password that is currently used across a range of other major services on campus.

What are the benefits of Monarch-Key Web Login?
The main benefit of Monarch-Key Web Login is the reduction in the number of account names and passwords needed to access essential services. In addition, after logging in to any of the Monarch-Key services like the myODU Portal, Student Gmail, Blackboard, LeoOnline, Degreeworks or others, there will be a period of one hour in which authentication is granted to any of those services without putting in an account and password. For example: If you login to Blackboard and within one hour access Leo-on-Line, you won’t need to reenter your ID and password.

What new services will now use Monarch-Key Web Login?
The new services that will be incorporated into Monarch-Key Web Login include Blackboard, Leo Online, myODU Portal, DegreeWorks and Touchnet. There are several services like Student email that are already using Monarch-Key Web Login and will continue to do so.

SECURITY

How long will I stay logged into Monarch-Key Web Login before I will be prompted for my credentials?
For privacy reasons, if you try to access a Monarch-Key service and it has been more than one hour since you last entered your credentials, you will then be re-prompted for them. You will however be able to continue to use the current Monarch-Key service without being re-prompted after an hour.

What is the safest way to log out of Monarch-Key Web Login services?
To ensure that you are logged out after exiting any Monarch-Key service, you should close the web browser, which deletes the session cookies. This means close all browser tabs and windows and quit the browser.

BLACKBOARD

If I am taking a test on Blackboard, will Monarch-Key Web Login time-out after an hour?
If you are taking a test on Blackboard, the Blackboard session time-out is 4 hours which overrides the Monarch-Key Web Login time-out of one hour. This is to ensure you have time to complete your course work without interruption.

MYODU PORTAL

What will I use to log into the myODU Portal?
You will still log into the myODU Portal using your MIDAS ID and password but will now do so via the Monarch-Key Web Login page.

Will I still have access to all the services I did before through the myODU Portal?
Yes. You will still be able to access many of your student services after logging into the Portal without having to login again.

LEO ONLINE

What will I use to log into Leo Online?
You will no longer use your University ID Number and six-digit PIN to log into Leo Online. You will now use your MIDAS ID and password to authenticate via Monarch-Key Web Login.

Will I need my Leo Online PIN for any other systems on campus?
No. The only other site that utilized the Leo Online PIN was Touchnet and it too will now be incorporated into Monarch-Key Web Login so it will use your MIDAS ID and password.

Will I still need my Leo Online PIN to submit my timesheet?
No. The PIN verification step in Web Time Entry will be eliminated. You will use your MIDAS ID and password to log into Leo Online then enter and submit your time as you normally would.

I am an alumnus/alumna, how do I access my transcript?
If you are an alumnus/alumna, you will still use your MIDAS ID and password to log into Leo Online and retrieve your transcript. If you graduated from ODU before the use of MIDAS credentials, you can create a MIDAS account at http://midas.odu.edu in order to access Leo Online.

I am a new student, how do I check my application status in Leo Online?
As a new student, you will need to create a MIDAS account at http://midas.odu.edu in order to access Leo Online. Your MIDAS ID and password will allow you to log into Leo Online and access your application.

How can I find my UIN if I am a newly admitted student?
Your UIN is printed on your admission letter. If you are unable to find your admission letter, to find your UIN you can contact the Admissions Office at 757-683-3685 for assistance.

I am a current/returning student, how do I retrieve my UIN if I have forgotten it?
If you have an ODU ID card, your UIN is printed on the card. If you do not have an ODU ID card and know your MIDAS ID and password, you can log into Leo Online using your MIDAS ID and password to look up your UIN. If you need assistance with your MIDAS ID and password, please see this link https://midas.odu.edu/Help?28.
