Lotus Notes to Exchange Migration with Office 2007

Project Home

Since the Notes to Exchange Migration and the Office 2007 projects have become so closely integrated, this website is changing to address both needs.  Please note that many new links have been added.

Though the projects are related, they are separate, and unfortunately, we've received feedback showing that there is confusion between them.    For this reason, you will notice that the links address the two projects separately.  That is, the schedules for each project will be posted separately, as will the training, and in fact, everything else.  But you will need to visit just this one location to get the information for both.

One of the main questions we're receiving is "why?"  Why did Office 2007 get into the picture and why the short notice?

Much of this has been new to us.  And part of our learning has been from other Universities who have gone through a similar migration and were willing to share their mistakes.  One of the major points to come out of this was that Office 2007 has many features that work closely with Exchange 2007 and even more important was the incompatibility issues between Exchange 2007 and Outlook 2003.   Though it would be difficult to fit it in, in the long run it would be better to rollout Office 2007 before migrating to Exchange.

The rest of this site should provide you with more background and information.  You can help us make this website more relevant. Questions can be sent to  oduemailmigration@odu.edu and answers will be provided within these pages so that your questions (and the answers) can benefit others.
