Remote access to the new file system will no longer be through IUser, but will be through the VPN.  There are some steps to getting set up to use the VPN which can be found on the OCCS Getting Connected page at http://occs.odu.edu/gettingconnected/

Old Dominion University currently provides a Virtual Private Network (VPN) for general use by all faculty and staff.  A VPN provides an encrypted tunnel between a PC or computing device and the VPN device here on the University.  This tunnel allows all forms of communications and applications through and its main purpose is encryption of data and authentication of the user credentials.  By connecting to the University via the VPN users can interact with University IT systems as if they were on the campus.  Use of the VPN is encouraged for all forms of work or access to University systems.  All systems that are used to access the VPN must comply with the Virtual Private Network Standard (http://occs.odu.edu/policies/standards/05.4.4%20-%20Virtual%20Private%20Network%20Standard%202006.pdf ).

To access the VPN, a user must successfully complete the Blackboard course called “OCCS Remote Users Security Training”. Instructions on accessing this course and obtaining VPN access can be found at http://occs.odu.edu/policies/procedures/5.4.4%20-%20ODU%20Campus%20VPN%20Access%20Procedure%202008.pdf.
