Faculty and staff at ODU receive access to the following information services. Click on the titles below for more information.

MIDAS ID
MIDAS is a work-in-progress. Before using your account for the first time you must activate it at midas.odu.edu. On the Services section, you can activate the accounts you will need.

myODU
myODU can be customized so that from this one site, you can access your email, Blackboard, Leo Online, and other applications, and view personalized news and information.  Go to my.odu.edu to use and customize your portal.

Email
You can use your ODU email account to send, receive and store email.

Mobile Monarch Student Notebook Program
All Old Dominion University faculty and staff receive special pricing for personal purchases under the Mobile Monarch program.

Hardware and Software
OCCS offers a wide range of software available for use in ODU public computing centers. Some software are also available for free download. Hardware and software may be purchased through the Monarch Techstore at www.odu.edu/af/techstore.

High Performance Computing
High Performance Computing (HPC) is the use of computer hardware and software systems to do more computing in less real-time. HPC can be achieved through a combination of advanced processor architecture, parallel processing, and the availability of large amounts of memory and disk space.

Campus Labs
OCCS provides access to nearly 300 networked machines on campus, all of which feature high-speed Internet connections and many popular software applications.

Blackboard
The Blackboard Learning System is a powerful tool for extending the reach of your classroom activities. Use it to post course materials like syllabi, readings, and handouts, and to collect homework assignments, give exams, and facilitate class discussions. Grades can be posted for each assignment immediately upon review, providing students with instant feedback. You can access Blackboard via myODU or at blackboard.odu.edu. For a Blackboard tutorial visit www.clt.odu.edu/bb/index.php?src=tutorials.

Instructional Tools
Many other tools are available for faculty use including Opscan Grading, Faculty Student Communication System and media-equipped classrooms. For information on this and others see the instructional link.

Faculty/Instructional Sites
Faculty can setup their own instructinal web space where they can post information on their courses, syllabi, vita, and related information. See the Web Development section for more web services.
