Remote Access to user Files and Shares
Typically, when you are on campus and logged into your work desktop or in a computer lab, access to your files stored on the University's Active Directory servers is established automatically through your Windows AD account login, which maps your network drives.
If you are not using a desktop connected to the University's network, then you will need a configure a connection to access and manage files stored on the University's servers. This includes access using the University's wireless network. Use the information below to configure your computer to remotely access your files.
Students
When remotely accessing files stored on ODU's Active Directory servers, you will need to establish a WebDAV connection. Use the instructions below for the operating system you are currently using to configure your computer and connect using WebDAV. Students will be making a WebDAV connection to https://monarchfiles.odu.edu. WebDAV links are not a web connection (URL) and will not work using a browser.

Faculty/Staff
To remotely access files stored on ODU's Active Directory servers, faculty and staff must connect through the Campus VPN. Please visit the Campus VPN page for information on establishing and using a VPN account. From the VPN, faculty and staff can access their files using WebDAV or by Mapping a Network Drive using the instructions below for your current operating system. If using WebDAV, faculty and staff will be connecting to https://myfiles.odu.edu. WebDAV links are not a web connection (URL) and will not work using a browser.
