Installation guide for McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5i

  1. Use this link to download McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise 8.5i:

  1. Select 'For Students, Faculty/Staff'.

  1. Use your MIDAS username and password to authenticate.

  1. Click on 'VScan85i.exe' to download McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5i

  1. Select 'Run'.

  1. Select 'Run' again.


  1. The self extractor will then open and ask where to unzip the McAfee files to.  The default location is C:\temp\McAfee.  If you would like to unzip it to another directory, click 'Browse...' and select another location.  Click 'Unzip'  to extract the files to the location you have chosen.

  1. Find the McAfee folder created after unzipping and double click it.  Next double click the VSE850LML folder and locate Setup.exe.  Double click Setup.exe to install.  The default location will be (C:\temp\McAfee\VSE850LML\Setup.exe)

  1. Windows will alert you of the program installation, click continue. McAfee will then begin the setup for the installation.

  1. Click 'Next'

  1. Select 'Perpetual' under the License expiration type and select accept the terms in the license agreement.

  1. Select typical and click 'Next'.

  1. Select Standard Protection and click next. (*DO NOT CHOOSE MAXIMUM PROTECTION)

  1. Select 'Install'

  1. The installation process will begin.

  1. Uncheck the 'Run-On demand Scan' and click Finish.

  1. Make sure you have a connection to the internet so that you can update McAfee.
