How do I hook-up to my TV?

  1. Using a coax cable, connect the Antenna/CATV port on your TV to the cable jack on the wall.
  2. Make sure your TV is in cable mode.
  3. If available, run the Auto Program function on your TV. (If your TV has this feature, it will appear on the menu screen.)

How do I hook up to a VCR?

  1. Using a coax cable, connect the Antenna/In port on your VCR to the cable jack on the wall.
  2. Using another coax cable, connect the RF/Out port on your VCR to the Antenna/CATV port on your TV.
  3. Make sure your television is tuned to the output channel selected on your VCR, usually 3 or 4. It is best NOT to use Channel 3 in this area.

What do I do if I have an old TV that is not cable-ready?

  1. If your TV is not cable-ready, you will need a cable-ready VCR or a converter box. MonarchVision does not require or provide converter boxes.
  2. If your TV does not have a cable jack, you use a "matching transformer" to convert the standard antenna connection on your TV to a cable jack. These transformers can be purchased from most local electronics stores.

I have connected everything and I still do not have a picture.

  1. Double-check the connections and make sure everything is tightly connected and that none of the cables are damaged.
  2. Make sure your TV is tuned to Cable mode.
  3. Run the Auto Program function on your TV, if it has this feature.
  4. If you are using a VCR, make sure your TV and VCR are tuned to the same channel.

I am only getting the lower channels, 2-13.

One or more of the channels are missing on my TV.

Some of my channels come in fuzzy or are not clear.

  1. Check and make sure that all of the connections between your TV and the cable jack on the wall are tight and that none of the cables are damaged.
  2. If you have multiple devices (splitters, game consoles, VCR, etc.) connected, try connecting your TV directly to the cable jack on the wall. If the picture clears up, you may have a bad device or cable.
  3. If the problem persists, please contact the Technical Support Center at 757.683.3192.

Can I order premium channels like HBO or Showtime? What about Pay-Per-View?
Premium movie channels and pay-per-view are not available on MonarchVision. However, we do offer our own premium movie channel, the Campus Movie Channel (ODU20), as part of the basic service.
