Student Email

TROUBLESHOOTING

I have forgotten my student email password.  How do I get a new password?
If you have lost or forgotten your student email password, you may set a new password for yourself via MIDAS (Monarch IDentification and Authorization System). Your new MIDAS password will also be your student email password.

When I do certain email functions, such as open  a message or reply, the following error appears: "Domino Web Access Warning.  Sorry we were unable to process your request at this time."

Please modify/change ALL your popup blockers to allow popups from the student email site. This include popup blockers from Yahoo, Google, Cox or Windows XP with Service Pack 2.

HTTP Web Server:  Lotus Notes Exception - Note item not found
This error message indicates that your email account is full.  To request temporary disk space,  click the following link:

This will allow you to open your email account and delete messages.

When someone replies to my email they get a "user not found" message.
The "Mail File Owner" field under [Tools] [Preferences] must be set correctly so that your email messages are signed correctly. The Mail File Owner is configured when your account is created and you will never need to modify this. The correct format for this field is the Lotus Notes canonical format, such as

JOHN DOE/ENGR/STUDENT/ODU

If you change this field, you may encounter problems receiving replies to your messages. In some cases, the email may be returned to the sender with a delivery failure report such as "user not listed in public Name & Address Book." For example, if your account is "JOHN DOE" and you modify the mail file owner to "JOHNNY DOE," emails sent by you will have an invalid reply-to address.

If you modify the "Mail File Owner" field in such a way that it is identical to another account name, email sent to you may be delivered to another student. Example: You change your "Mail File Owner" from "JOHN DOE/ENGR/STUDENT/ODU" to simply "JOHN DOE," which causes replies to your email to be sent to another student named JOHN DOE.

OCCS strongly recommends that you do not change the "Mail File Owner" field. There is no support for using alternate names in this field. If you have made changes to your "Mail File Owner" field, there is a utility that may be used to reset your "Mail File Owner" field to the correct information. Click the following link to access this utility.
